Standard Terms & Conditions of Service
These Terms & Conditions apply to all septic tank, cesspit, sewage treatment plant, grease trap and liquid waste collection services provided by Canford Tankers Ltd.
By instructing Canford Tankers Ltd to carry out any work, the customer is deemed to have accepted these Terms & Conditions.
1. Quotations
1.1 All quotations are based on information supplied by the customer and are subject to site conditions remaining as described.
1.2 Unless otherwise stated, quotations remain valid for 30 days.
1.3 All quoted volumes are estimates only. Final charges will be based on the actual volume of waste removed and any additional services required.
1.4 All prices are exclusive of VAT unless otherwise stated.
2. Access to Site
2.1 The customer is responsible for ensuring safe and unrestricted access to the property and tank.
2.2 Access routes must be suitable for a heavy goods vehicle of up to 18 tonnes gross vehicle weight.
2.3 Any restrictions, weight limits, overhead obstructions, narrow access, locked gates or hazards must be disclosed at the time of booking.
2.4 If our vehicle is unable to safely access the property, a call-out charge may apply.
3. Tank Access
3.1 The customer is responsible for identifying the location of the tank.
3.2 Inspection covers should be fully exposed prior to our arrival unless otherwise agreed.
3.3 Where additional time is required to locate or expose the tank, additional charges may apply.
4. Hose Distance
4.1 Our standard prices include up to 30 metres of hose.
4.2 Where a greater hose distance is required, additional charges may apply.
5. Waste Volumes
5.1 Standard pricing applies to the agreed volume quoted.
5.2 Our standard tanker load is based on up to 2,000 gallons.
5.3 Where the volume exceeds 2,000 gallons, additional tanker loads will be charged at the applicable rate.
5.4 Until the tank has been emptied, all quoted volumes remain estimates.
6. Type of Waste
6.1 We will only collect waste declared at the time of booking.
6.2 Canford Tankers Ltd reserves the right to refuse collection of any waste that differs from the original booking or is considered hazardous or unsuitable.
This includes (but is not limited to):
- Chemicals
- Oils
- Fuels
- Solvents
- Hazardous waste
- Any material prohibited by our Waste Carrier Licence or disposal facilities.
6.3 Additional disposal charges may apply where waste differs from that originally declared.
7. Waste Transfer
7.1 Responsibility for the waste remains with the customer until it has been successfully loaded into our vehicle.
7.2 Once loaded, responsibility transfers to Canford Tankers Ltd for transportation and disposal in accordance with current environmental legislation.
8. Waiting Time & Additional Charges
8.1 Our prices include a reasonable period for completing the scheduled work.
8.2 Additional charges may apply where delays occur due to circumstances outside our control, including but not limited to:
- Restricted access
- Waiting for access
- Hidden inspection covers
- Customer delays
- Excessive hose runs
- Additional tanker loads
- Undeclared waste
- Out-of-hours attendance
9. Missed Appointments & Cancellations
9.1 Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice may incur a cancellation charge.
9.2 Where our vehicle attends site but the work cannot be carried out due to customer circumstances, a call-out charge may apply.
Examples include:
- No access available
- Customer not present where attendance is required
- Tank inaccessible
- Unsafe working conditions
10. Health & Safety
10.1 Our operators have the right to refuse to carry out work where conditions are considered unsafe.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- Unsafe vehicle access
- Aggressive behaviour
- Dangerous animals
- Hazardous environments
- Unsafe lifting of covers
- Unsafe working practices
11. Environmental Responsibility
11.1 Canford Tankers Ltd is a registered waste carrier and operates in accordance with all applicable environmental legislation.
11.2 All waste collected is transported to appropriately authorised waste treatment facilities.
12. Payment
12.1 Domestic customers: Payment is due immediately upon completion of the work unless otherwise agreed.
12.2 Commercial customers: Payment is due in accordance with agreed account terms.
12.3 Late payments may incur interest and recovery costs in accordance with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
13. Liability
13.1 Canford Tankers Ltd will exercise all reasonable care whilst carrying out its services.
13.2 We shall not be liable for:
- Existing defects within tanks, chambers or pipework.
- Failure or collapse of tanks, covers or associated infrastructure due to age, corrosion, poor maintenance or pre-existing defects.
- Damage arising from inaccurate information supplied by the customer.
- Damage caused by unsuitable access routes or ground conditions.
- Delays beyond our reasonable control.
13.3 Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the value of the services supplied, except where liability cannot legally be excluded.
14. Force Majeure
Canford Tankers Ltd shall not be liable for any delay or failure to perform its obligations where such delay or failure results from circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to:
- Severe weather
- Flooding
- Road closures
- Traffic incidents
- Mechanical breakdowns
- Industrial action
- Disposal site closures
- Government restrictions
- Any other event beyond our reasonable control
15. Complaints
Any concerns regarding our service should be reported within 48 hours of completion to allow us to investigate promptly.
16. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
Any dispute arising in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
17. Acceptance
By accepting a quotation or instructing Canford Tankers Ltd to carry out work, the customer confirms they have read, understood and accepted these Terms & Conditions.
